CNA Certification in New Hampshire

Certified Nursing assistants (CNAs) in New Hampshire are commonly known as Licensed Nursing Assistants. There has been a growing need for certified nurse aides in New Hampshire. Firstly you must enroll in a certified nursing training program which is regulated by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing. However these programs are governed by federal rules which require every CNA program to consist of at least 100 hours of training. These hours constitute classroom instruction along with the clinical training that includes hands-on practice in a licensed facility training environment. A typical course curriculum in the training program includes skills like taking patient measurements, interacting with mentally ill patients, practicing safety, providing daily care to patients, CPR and many more. These CNA classes cost you around $1000, however there are provisions of 100% financial reimbursement after training is completed and you have been employed in a long-term care facility. The test is administered by Pearson Vue and constitutes written and skill performance parts. The written part is choice examination of 70 questions and the skill part needs the demonstration of 5 nursing assistant related skills. The cost of the test is $125, with an additional $40 registration fee. Once you pass both exams, you can apply to be listed on the New Hampshire Nursing Assistant Registry and officially considered certified. CNA certification must be renewed after every 24 months with proof of at least 200 hours of employment as a CNA and 12 hours of continuing education over the same time period.
